  14. Conditions were fairly good until May 1, when the previously
  15. predicted cycle of disturbances from a coronal hole began again.
  16. Solar flux was down a bit relative to the previous week.
  17.  
  18. Poor conditions should continue until the middle of May, when
  19. geomagnetic activity should finally quiet down again.  Solar flux
  20. will be rising until a peak around May 19 near 100.  Flux should
  21. decrease again, with disturbances returning by the end of the month
  22. for another cycle of high K indices.

  24. Sunspot Numbers from April 28 through May 4 were 35, 16, 38, 80, 75,
  25. 52 and 38, with a mean of 47.7.  10.7 cm flux was 77.3, 77.8, 74.9,
  26. 75.2, 75.9, 74.4 and 73.1, with a mean of 75.5.

  28. The projection for this week is from Larsen Bay, Alaska, on Kodiak
  29. Island, to New Zealand.

  31. 80 meters should be open from 0000 to 1500z, and 40 meters from
  32. 0630 to 1530.  Check 30 meters from 0530 to 1600, and 20 meters
  33. from 0430 to 0700.  17 meters should be open from 0300 to 0430,
  34. and on same days as late as 0600.  10, 12 and 15 meters do not look
  35. good at this time.  All of this assumes that geomagnetic conditions
  36. are not terribly stormy, which tends to create problems for
  37. propagation in the higher latitudes.
